Foxel Remote

Mount a virtual directory from another Foxel instance to access storage across servers.

Adapter type: foxel. See Common configuration for mounting instructions.

Setup

  1. Create an account on the remote Foxel instance and grant read or write permissions for the target path.
  2. Confirm the local Foxel runtime can reach the remote site.
  3. Set base_url to the site address without /api, and root to a path in the remote file manager, such as /shared.

Configuration

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
base_urlstringYes—Full HTTP(S) service URL; use the site address or protocol endpoint described below.
usernamestringYes—Remote account username.
passwordpasswordYes—Remote account password.
rootstringNo"/"Directory on the backend, separate from the mount path displayed in Foxel.
timeoutnumberNo60Request or connection timeout in seconds.

Example

This is a config object. In the admin form, fill the corresponding fields rather than pasting the whole object. Replace credential placeholders with your own values.

json
{
  "base_url": "https://remote-foxel.example.com",
  "username": "foxel-reader",
  "password": "YOUR_PASSWORD",
  "root": "/shared",
  "timeout": 60
}

Behavior and limitations

  • This provides remote file access; it does not automatically synchronize or back up data.
  • Remote user permissions and underlying adapter restrictions still apply.
  • The configuration form defaults timeout to 60 seconds. Increase it when needed for higher-latency connections.
  • Avoid reciprocal mounts that create recursive paths.

Troubleshooting

  • 401: check remote credentials and account status.
  • 403/404: verify root is an actual remote mount path accessible to the account.
  • Uploads fail: check remote write permissions, proxy upload limits, and underlying storage quota.
