FTP
Connect a standard FTP server with anonymous or account authentication and active or passive mode.
Adapter type: ftp. See Common configuration for mounting instructions.
Setup
- Obtain the host, port, and a directory visible to the FTP account.
- Confirm the control and data ports are reachable from the Foxel runtime.
- Start with
passive: trueand use the path visible after FTP login, such as/pub, forroot.
Configuration
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
host | string | Yes | — | Server hostname or IP, without a scheme or directory. |
port | number | No | 21 | Service port. |
username | string | No | — | Remote account username. |
password | password | No | — | Remote account password. |
passive | boolean | No | true | Use passive mode; false selects active mode. |
timeout | number | No | 15 | Request or connection timeout in seconds. |

Example
This is a config object. In the admin form, fill the corresponding fields rather than pasting the whole object. Replace credential placeholders with your own values.
json
{
"host": "ftp.example.com",
"port": 21,
"username": "ftpuser",
"password": "YOUR_PASSWORD",
"root": "/files",
"passive": true,
"timeout": 15
}
Behavior and limitations
- Blank credentials attempt anonymous login; write access depends on the server.
- This adapter uses plain FTP and has no FTPS/TLS option. Use SFTP for SSH file transfer.
- FTP permissions or chroot may make the login root different from the server filesystem root.
Troubleshooting
- Login succeeds but listing times out: check passive data ports, advertised server address, and NAT.
- 550 error: verify the path is visible to the FTP user and has the required permissions.
- Active mode fails: the server must connect back to Foxel; check firewall and NAT rules.
